Curriculum Vitae

Lea Hägi is a senior researcher and teacher at the University of Zurich with focus on national and cantonal developments in the Swiss education system. The historical reconstruction of vocational education and training (VET) and its politics is at the core of her work. Other fields of interest include international VET research (focus on international hotel management schools) and the interdisciplinary approach Economics of Conventions (EC). Since March 2021 she is a team member in the Swiss National Science Foundation funded project «Bildung in Zahlen» (education by numbers) at the Chair for Historical Research in Education and Governance of the Education System (Prof. Dr. Lucien Criblez).

Lea Hägi studied Educational Sciences, Business Administration, and Didactics (secondary school teaching / vocational education and training) and then did her PhD in education sciences (supervisor: Prof. Dr. Phillipp Gonon; second supervisor: Prof. Dr. Rainer Diaz-Bone). Thesis title (in German): «Revitalisierung» der Berufsbildung. Der bildungspolitische Weg zur Institutionalisierung der Berufsbildung in der Schweiz als Verbundaufgabe in den 1990er-Jahren. In addition to her many years of employment at the University of Zurich (research and teaching) she completed continuing education in higher education (CAS Hochschuldidaktik) and as an expert in the realization of accreditation procedures for global education partners (hotel industry).
