REval

REval – «Revising and Evaluating argumentative texts in grade 7»

The ability to revise one's text distinguishes experienced writers from less experienced writers. Students with lower writing skills, in particular, tend to skip revising. At the same time, they are often less able to control their writing process or adapt it if necessary. This is also reflected in their writing performance.

What is the purpose of REval? Teaching revision skills can guide students towards effective writing, not only for a specific text but also for future challenging writing tasks. This is where the SNSF project REval comes in: As part of an intervention study, three promotional approaches for revision will be compared (revision at sentence level, revision with reciprocal feedback and revision with reader observation).

What are the participation options? We are looking for German teachers teaching a 7th grade (1st secondary school level) starting in fall 2024. Interested teachers are encouraged to contact Gabriel Morre atgabriel.morre@fhnw.ch
