Institut für Erziehungswissenschaft VSD-Conference

The organisers

The conferenceis was organised by the Chair of Vocational Education and Training at the Institute of Education, University of Zurich. The Chair is the only one of its kind in Switzerland and has a strong research focus on international developments in TVET, on implementation of training policy reforms and on quality assurance in training institutions. It also offers consultancy services, among others to agencies involved in development cooperation, with a strong focus on evaluations.

The conference was organised in cooperation with NADEL, NORRAG and the Swiss Forum for Skills Development and International Cooperation (FoBBIZ).

The Centre of Development and Cooperation (NADEL) of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, ETH (Zurich) is one of Switzerland’s leading research and training organisations in the field of development cooperation. It offers a multi-disciplinary course program to both newcomers and professionals working in development cooperation. The courses offered are closely linked with NADEL’s research activities and development consultancies.

Bringing together development practitioners, policy makers and academics, the Network for Policy Research, Review and Advice on Education and Training (NORRAG) has been an important clearing house for the issue of VSD in development cooperation since the 1970s. Its newsletter - NORRAG News - with contributions by a wide range of authors have critically accompanied the international developments in the field of education and training for 25 years.

The Swiss Forum for Skills Development and International Cooperation (FoBBIZ) is a newly launched network that brings together different Swiss organisations and experts that are active in international cooperation and in the Swiss vocational education and training system. It aims to enrich the discussions on international cooperation and vocational skills development by organising events and commenting on current trends in the field. The forum’s members moreover get involved with working groups.
