Evaluation BoysToMen

Runtime: April 2012 to March 2013

At times, boys and male adolescents attract attention through orientations and modes of behavior that are deemed problematic. The sources of these circumstance are pointed out as, among other things, gender specific strains in the process of growing up as well as new challenges in regard to gender relations. Within in the frame work of the project BoysToMen, boys and male adolescents are accompanied by adult mentors from whom they may receive support in order to be able to cope with various challenges. Following introductory adventure weekends, there are regular group meetings that offer the opportunity to reflect on experiences and problems collectively.
Within the scope of an evaluation, the project at hand will be accompanied by the project team from the University of Zurich academically. Initially, the implementation of this new offer will be analyzed. Moreover, the experiences and assessments of various participants will be documented. In this regard, different parts of the project will be attended. On the basis of interviews with mentors, adolescents and persons responsible for their education, motives for participating in the project, experiences gained through working in the project, and assessments regarding the project will be surveyed and analyzed.
