Bachelor's Degree Programs

At the University of Zurich, completing a Bachelor’s degree program takes at least 6 semesters, consisting of 120 ECTS points for major and 60 ECTS points for minor studies.

Classes and examinations are generally held in German.

The Bachelor of Arts in Educational Science offers two program formats:

Description

Educational Science examines questions and problems related to upbringing, education, learning, assistance, and socialization.

Those completing the major in Educational Science (120 ECTS Credits) are familiar with the basic terminology, sub-disciplines, theories, and history of educational studies, and have a comprehensive fundamental knowledge in selected thematic areas within the discipline, as well as expertise in qualitative, quantitative, historical, and textual analysis methods and procedures.

Those completing the minor in Educational Science (30 ECTS Credits) are familiar with the basic terminology, sub-disciplines, theories, and history of educational studies, and have a basic knowledge of selected thematic areas within the discipline and in a research approach based on qualitative, quantitative or historical and textual analysis methods and procedures.

This Bachelor’s degree program confers the degree ‘Bachelor of Arts in Educational Science’ (BA).

Professional fields

Those completing the major are equipped to work in educational research, in the public and private education and social sectors, and in educational and social policy.

The minor provides additional qualifications for a wide range of roles, primarily in the public and private education and social sector.

The Bachelor of Arts in Educational Science and Psychology offers one program format:

Description

The study program in Educational Science and Psychology combines content from educational science and psychology. Those completing the program are familiar with the basic terminology, sub-disciplines, theories, and history of educational studies and with the fundamentals of social, developmental, biological, personality, and neuropsychology. They have knowledge of the methods and procedures of quantitative social research and an insight into the social settings of development, upbringing, education, and assistance.

This Bachelor’s degree program confers the degree ‘Bachelor of Arts in Educational Science and Psychology’ (BA).

Professional fields

Those completing the program are equipped for diverse roles, particularly in the education and social sector, and are qualified for admission to a Master’s study program in Educational Science and Psychology or Educational Studies.
